HE IS HERE!
Ok..so it took me almost 3 weeks to get somethign on this blog posted. Too long you say...have a baby and see how much time you actually have to sit on the computer...or let alone do anything else. Honestly if it were not for one step email checking on my cell phone...I would not be checking that either. At least while I am riding (not driving) I can read them!
So here is the scoop.
Ricardo Jacobo Ovalle (aka, Dito, Baby Head, RJ, Little Ricki...) was born at 7:33am October 17, 2008. He wieghed 7.0 lbs and was 19.75lbs. I went into the hospital abou 1230am after what I thought was my water breaking. (of course also after I took a shower and started the dishes in the dishwasher..:))The nurse waited to officially admit me til I was more than 2 cm dialated. (and they said that my water had not actually broken.) The contractions started and yes they hurt. I had never felt them til this point..and man..I hated it. I wanted to just give up (even though I was WAY pat the point of no return...jaajaja) After I was about 3 cm they admited me and gave me some preliminary pain meds to curb the painful contractions. This was about 3am. When I hit 4cm (about 330am) they gave me the epideral I had requested. THOSE do not take long at all to kick in! After that I felt nothing..except my ACTUAL water breaking. The nurse confirmed it and called hte doctor to have her come in. The epideral worked so well that I was actually able to fall asleep for about an hour (as well as Doug, Jessica, Daisy, my mom and Ricardo all who were present at the time) for about an hour or so. Then the Dr came in and checked again 9cm. Wow that went by fast!! :) So we kicked everyone out and began he pushing process...after several tries and almost popping out every blood vessel in my head, a fever on my part and an elevated heart rate on the babys part (180...regular is 120-140), and using a vaccuum to straigten him out they decide at 630am to do an emergency C-Section. I was quite scared at the idea of that but knew that all was in God's hands and only He knew what was and was going to happen! So off I went to getr our little baby out! The surgery began at 704am and he was out at 733am. :) Ricardo was by my side the entire time taking pics and texting Jessica who was out in a waiting room with everyone so she could stay in contact with those who wished to have all the up to the moment news thru out the night. :) So all in all a grat pregnancy with no complications or problems. Canckles really only began to set in the last week. And only had to endure 2 hours of so of pain before the medicine took over. Pn the other hand the post surgery is a dusey! I am not in constant pain or anything but it will certainly kick me in the stomache anytime I spend too much time on my feet or do something I am not supposed to do. :( 6 weeks of basically not being able to do anythng...not even drive! :( I guess I can live with that being I had such a great 9 months and now a VERY HUNGRY little boy! (He eats almost every 2 hours!!!!)
I can say that I have learned a few things since he has come in to the world. SOme include:
1) Milk smells gross if left on your skin too long
2) Being able to clean the whole house in 20 mins or less
3) How to hold a baby who is nursing in one hand and use the other to get stuff done AND
4) To love in a way that only God can do.
It is amazing that you can love something that has done nothing to deserve it, or has asked for it. He just is my son and I love him for that. It is a little crazy to think about sometimes...that he is even here and real and that I can say that I have a son. But then at 3am he reminds me taht he IS real and he IS here!!! :) ANd I thank God all the time for putting him here with us. :)
Time home has been interesting. THe first week that we were home Ricardo took off and Jessica was here most every waking minute. It was nice to have her here to help with the cleaning and cooking as I could do none of it. Also was good to have RIcardo not needing to get up for work as the first few nights were hard for us to get thru. A few weeks have gone by and taking care of a baby is no picnic but I think that RIcardo is finally sleeping thru the babys cries...ja jaja. :) He is most helpful though when he does get home from work. He holds him and feeds him and sometimes changes his diapers...gives me a few more mins between feedings to do things. Even this blog I started at like 7am is only possible cause I am learning to do things one handed while the baby is feeding. Hence why it took so long!!! :) Well I need to take these last few moments to get a bottle ready for church and a chower afterwards...as mentioned above...MILK smells so gross if left to dry on teh skin and not washed...aka showered! :) (I currently have no pics as the laptop died and I cannot get them off. Want to see some check out Ricardo's or Jessica's myspace or facebook!

Baby Zaks Boutique Fiasco! How Babosa!!!!

Well...one woudl hardly believe it..but it is true. Jessica, Ricardo and I went to the Avenue Viera yesterday to walk around and kinda jus enjoy the day. I had heard that there was a nice baby store there so I wanted to stop in. It is called Baby Zaks Boutique. At first it was super cute and had a lot to look at. Then we found out that some of the crib sheets in there were like $700. WHAT?!?!? So we all just continued to look around. As we were getting ready to leave I went back to a crib that had a sheet set that I liked a lot and JEssica noticed a set of blue and brown burp clothes (I thought they were bandaids cuase they looked like they were made out of gauze). Those are nice, we both thought and put them back down, and walked out the door. Like 2 seconds later we hear..."Um..you guys have some blue burp clothes??"
"Excuse me?" (one of us said) I was at first a little confused by the question as we turned to see the lady calling to us as we have already left the store.
"I saw you guys looking at some blue burp clothes and wanted to know if you have them."
We all just looked at each other a little dumbfounded and said "No we do not have any cloths"
Just then the lady looks back in the window and there they are in her display. "Oh nevermind there they are..."
So basically in front of those outside her store, as well as those who were currently shopping in her store, this lady wrongly accused us of shoplifting, before she ever looked into the window display! What the hey!?!?! I was a litle surprised myself at the accusation! Never beed accused of stealing before....and let me tell you those burp cloths were not even WORTH stealing...like I mentioned before..THEY LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE MADE OUT OF GAUZE....the stuff I can find in a first aid kit!! So if for some reason you feel the need or desire to shop, window shop or even look around Baby Zaks Boutique...beware!! You too might be accused of stealing something that was left in plain sight!!!!!!!

Todays Appointment
I went to my appointment today as I do every 2 weeks. The Doctor came in to do the measuring and check the heart rate etc..and she looked at me and was like..."Well let us see if this is butt or what (sticking out of my belly) " and proceeded to look for the heart beat. She checked first onthe right side...of course with no luck as those are his feet and went on to check the left bottom side and found it! She was like...."Wow he is offly (however you spell that) WIGGLY this morning." I was like...awww..he is WIGGLY! Wiggly never sounded so cute before!!! I have a wiggly baby Kumquat!!!!!! :)

Crib Time

Yeah we ordered our crib this week...and by this time next week it should be here. Now to see if it will take as long to put it together!!! JEe jee jee! It is not the Octagon UFC Fighting Ring Crib Ricardo was hoping for, none the lese it is a nice Cherry Wood Crib!! I cannot wait! Getting the crib and having all the baby stuff is making this whole "we are having a baby" thing more real. (As if the huge Baby Bump on my Belly was not a HUGE indicator!) But to see the baby stuff is making it all materialize as we still cannot see our baby!!! :) YEAH!!! We are currently in week 33 of the pregnancy...so any day soon Ricardito Jacobito will be here....and sleeping in a super cool crib...HOPEFULLY on his lime green or froggie sheets....hint hint friends of mine!! :)

Cantankerous Old Lady

So I went to the Dr today with Jessica (her appt). And while we were sitting, both in a little pain respectively Jessica pulled up the table so we could lift our legs. (My Dr said I need to keep them elevated as much as possible). Well right before she went in, a couple of old ladies came in and I told Jessica..."there we are years from now." And then an old guy came in to sit with them. We deemed him Ricardo. We knew it was not Doug, casue we already saw him on his way to work. (we saw another old guy riding a segway on 192:)) It was our big laugh for the day. She got called into her appt and I sat outside in the waiting room to ...basically WAIT! :) Jee jee.
After she left a third old lady was sitting there and said to her seemingly deaf husband (I can think of no other reason to talk so loud to the person sitting right next to you in a Drs office) She said to him..."You know what I hate...people who put thier feet on furniture. It just proves that they are ignorant and not educated..and it is rude!..." This is a basic quote..there are other things that she said about it but those were the key words. Of course I wanted to run over there and be like "Look lady I am almost 8 months pregnant and I need to keep my feet up!! What is your excuse for being "rude and ignorant"?!?!?" But I did not, I kept my cool and kept working on my laptop...working on my laptop...such a thing for an undereducated individual. :S Ay ay ay. I can say though I never heard someone talk so loud about someone else right in front of them before. I was like whatever and kinda laughing on the inside too!! Jee jee!!!!

They checked a lot of stuff and did another ultrasound. YEAH Jessica was here for this one. We got to see a little bit of Ricarditos face. And boy o boy does he have his daddys nose!!!! :) This was the first time Jessica got the see the baby live!! And yeah we got to see him again!!! The father's thoughts
This is the first time I wrote something about our baby here on the blog, so I pretty much know that it would be the only time also… so I pretty much better write something good…
Since the day I heard that we were having a baby, my mind and my whole world completely changed and YEAH, I do not see things the same way that I used to before, just like when I got married my life changed and so did I, but this time was different, there is a new creature (little monster… which I think I probably won call it like that, since it’s my own child now… lol) that is coming to this world and I’m the one in charge of it, which for me is one of the most amazing experiences in my life, and also the most scary one.
I have been praying and thinking a lot in the past 5 months and probably some of the things that I’m writing would even be a surprise for Erin. So I asked God so many times, to give me wisdom to raise this child, and to help me be the father I never had. A little background about my family history when I was a child I pretty much had two fathers, one that I though it was my dad, until the age of 5, but my mom told me he was not my real dad but some other guy and that I had to keep the secret, so I did for about 12 years, so I had 2 dads which it did not do much good for me since none of them really raised me and showed me what a real father was. They both did drugs and many things.
So I was really afraid that some of that might show up (not the drug part) while I’m a dad, I never had a role model to follow or someone to look up or a good example of what a father is. But since I found out that I was going to be a dad, I commit myself even more to God so that he will make me the father that he wants me to do. And also I started thinking about how was I going to provide for my family, since Erin is will have to stop working sometime, so I was like “I get a second Job”, and look for some and did not find any. So on my way to work while praying to God and asking him what was going to happen and pretty much telling him that I did not know what to do.
And yeah pretty much as usual he answered… first I want to say that God is so awesome and Good everything that He does has a purpose and nothing happens without him knowing what’s really going on. So he pretty much spoke to my heart and told me… what do you mean you don’t have an example of what a real father is? Have you not read my word and all my promises? I have shown you what a father is and pretty much instruct you how to be a good father, I have provide for you and you now here are worrying how to provide for your family when is not really up to you. Seek me first and the rest will be added, and I will show you how good of a father I am; the child is not even yours anyways and I will make sure he will not go hungry.
I was reading and searching things about how to be a godly father and found this on the internet which pretty much showed me my real role as a father, more important that the financial and anything else out there.
As parents, we must examine our nurturing and ourselves. Bringing a child into this world is a great spiritual responsibility that demands much prayer, thought, and provision, both material and spiritual. One of the worse things that I can imagine as a parent is to see one of my children be told on that "Great Day," "Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matt. 25: 41). However, even worse would be the realization that I contributed to their rejection by failing to responsibly exercise my duties as a parent. "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath," wrote Paul, "but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Eph. 6: 4).
Well this is the end of part 1 for now… too much writing I’ll get back at I sometime.

It is a BOY!!!!

Yupi for us! It is a boy. Althoug the doctor only gave him a 90% chance of accuracy...it looks pretty clear to me! The Ovalle name will live on for another generation. His name will be Ricardo Jacob Ovalle. :) We spent the day registering at Target, Sears and JCPennys. :) It was a lot of fun to spend the time together..and Ricardo I think, likes to register (and use the laser gun scanner thingy) :) Jee jee. I am including the only pics we got from today. The Doctro basically sucked..and made our morning a little not fun by beign kinda rude. He was not open to answering our questions or seemed too excited about us being excited! :( But we did not let that let us down. We were stoked it was a boy enough for everyone. So the only pics we have are of his hand, one of his hand near his mouth (he has his daddys lips) and one of his SOON TO BE manlihood :)

A little late
Ok..so I know I never get on here to write anything. And all of you are readign to check up on me...adn there is no new news. Sorry...I told you Jessica made me do this. And with her out of town so much...she has not been around to heckle me til I wrote something. But with her and Casicita getting on me about no updates..I guess I can put down a little something something. News: Tommorrow we find out what we are having. How bizarre...tommorrow I will know girl or boy. And I will nonger be able to call it IT without people yelling at me. No worries..it stil may stay an IT for a while. Many who have babys of thier own know that I call thiers its too. No matter what people say...it is stil an it. An it is just a more general way to refer to it. If you want to be specific...you can say he or she if you like. :)
We got "family" fotos done last month. And yup..they are stil packed up..so that I have not printed any. If it makes you feel better...I have yet to send my own grandma copies of the first ultrasound....and know I have another one coming. Oops..I guess now I will wait for tommorrows..when I can just send it all together.
Also...I was instructed to write about how it sleeps. It does sleep a lot...although like my cat Fatito..when it does sleep..it tends to curl up into an unmoveable mass..so it can be a little pressureable. (did not want to say painful..cause htat is not accurate) All though when it is ready to awaken it unfolds like a flower..spreading al out to reach and poke and smash all other working organisms in my body. That can also be quite the show. Sometimes I feel it strong and sometimes not so much. But..no forgetting that it is there. Ricardo got to feel it for the first time. Casicita tried to feel it the other day at the beach..but it would nto preform forher. Today Ithink it found a home in my chest. I am not 100% of its position...but whatever it did today..it woudl often make me take a double breath. Soon we might be able to see its arms and legs prottruding from the area. :)
We enjoyed a day at the beach this weekend with its tia jessica and casicita. Although..I discovered I can get seasick from holding onto my floaty out in the water. So yeah that ended my trips to the water. Those around me certainly enjoyed and took great delight in me being the BIGGEST at the gathering. I know I know...this comes from being the first to have a kid. Such a pioneer am I! :) Although others think my boobs have yet to catch up. I tried to bed to differ...but unfortunately (for me) and (fortantely for them) I coudl not proof them wrong. You will just have to take my word on it. I wear a Medium sized shirt now...if that is any indication. :) :) :) :)
Ok..I think that is all for now. If I have forgoten anything...I am sure someone will let me know..otheriwse it is prob not too important. No worries..I should have the big news posted tomm. And hopefully...with new pics!!! :)

something I have not seen before in my whole life
And what might that be you ask??? Well that would be...the inside of my belly button! What used to be a well hidden, descretely tucked away inny...is now border line inny-flatty. It is not turned inside out yet or anything...but I am finding there lint I am sure from my childhood years...in case you all wanted to know! :)

week 10
so...my baby is now the size of a kumquat. I have no idea what a kumquat is, but I am sure it is about the size of baby ovalle. Jessica y I have decided that Kumquaito will be a really cute and silly nickname for the little monster. (monster is the nickname of choice for Ricardo...so I think our nickname of Kumquaito is WAY cuter!!!) :)

9 weeks update
So I just found out that the little monster (ricardos deffinition) we are going to have is about the size of a grape! Also it is going to grow its butt hole. How does one grow a but hole...is not a hole an absence of something...not something you grow??? Glad I am not in the people making(planning) business. I would have messed the whole thing up!!!! (jessica made me blog about the butt hole thing...fyi) :)
